New research published in The Anatomical Record on how sauropods evolved long necks was highlighted Nature magazine’s “Research Highlights.” In the paper, a team Brazilian researchers studied a new specimen excavated near Agudo, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil and concluded that “the elongation of the neck of sauropodomorphs is an example of gradual evolutionary process,” rather than abruptly.
